Serious occurrences involving clients at the Recovery Works facility, or serious occurrences that were connected with care that clients received at the Recovery Works facility are required to be reported to the Georgia Department of Community Health.
Procedure
When a serious event occurs, the Facility Administrator, the Executive Director and the Director of Administration share responsibility for report a serious incident to DCH with 24 hours.
Examples of serious occurrences for which reporting is required include those "such as accidents or injuries requiring medical treatment and/or hospitalization; death; emergency safety interventions resulting in any injury requiring medical treatment beyond first aid; or any incident which results in any federal, state, or private legal action by, or against, the facility which affects any child or the conduct of the facility. However legal action involving the juvenile justice system is not required to be reported."*
A detailed investigative report will be prepared and sent to DCH within 5 working days if not provided when initially reported.
