PRIORITY ACCESS FOR PREGNANT FEMALES

  1. It is the policy of Recovery Works that drug-dependent pregnant females shall have priority access to Discovery House recovery services.

  2. Recovery Works recognizes that both the health of the pregnant mother, and the health of the unborn child may be affected by an otherwise unmitigated continuation of drug-dependence or abuse. Given this awareness, the larger public health impact involved in a pregnant mother warrants priority access for such clients.

  3. In cases where two such otherwise equally qualifying candidates for admission to the program shall concurrently present themselves for admission to the same Recovery Works opening, one of whom is a pregnant female, priority access shall be given to the pregnant female.

  4. In cases where a opening for a pregnant female is needed, and none are available at Recovery Works, and no other suitable alternatives are available, Discovery House will triage its current census to determine whether an opening could be safely made available to the pregnant female.

  5. When Recovery Works has a waiting list for admissions, drug-dependent pregnant females shall be given priority for admission.

  6. In all cases medical clearance for the pregnant female must be obtained at admission. If the pregnancy is discovered at or after admission, the individual must be medically cleared to continue on the program.
