13.004 Pre-Employment Drug Screens
13 – Pre-Employment Drug Screens
Policy
Recovery Works is a drug-free workplace and maintains a drug-free awareness program in compliance with federal drug-free workplace law. Pre-employment and random urine drug screens shall be utilized for all program employees, contractor and volunteers.
Procedure
Prior to employment or interaction with clients all potential employees, contractors and volunteers must submit to a urine drug screen which shall at a minimum include testing for opiates, methadone, amphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and THC.
Sample will be collected and tested with a CLIA waived device and the results will be recorded on the Pre Employment Drug Screen Record (Exhibit A). These results will include a photograph of the test. If the test is administered by an outside agency those records may be accepted in place of Recovery Works documentation.
If a positive test is found, potential applicant will be given a chance to provide a doctor’s prescription, or may pay for a comprehensive analysis at their own cost.
If an applicant is refused a job as a result of a positive drug screen, referrals to drug counseling, rehabilitation or assistance services will be made available.
